Hannah KimPosition: Programs Co-Director Year & Major: 4th Year Computational & Systems Biology Major About me: Coming into sophomore year after a year of zoom, I definitely felt behind in my college experience. Thankfully, a friendly (and perhaps a bit sweaty) face at EAF convinced me to join APHC where there have been so many opportunities for personal and professional growth! But more than this, I love that I always leave APHC events smiling because of its kind community of people. Outside of APHC, you can find me reading, napping under trees, re-watching Ru Paul’s drag race, or on the verge of tears while coding. . Devyn ChunPosition: Internal Director Year & Major: 4th Year Physiological Science Major Bioinformatics Minor About me: I first remember finding out about APHC through out online instagram EAF. I combed through the numerous pre-health orgs at UCLA and this one stood out to me. When things started to return as in-person events, I wanted to become more involved, joining multiple committees and found such a welcoming pre-med/pre-health community! Outside of APHC, you may be able to find me drinking a caffeinated beverage or napping around campus, pulling all-nighters to finish my coding assignments, playing Tetris in the library, or consuming Tik Tok content like there's no tomorrow. Feel free to reach out and say hi! I'm always down for fun activities and exploring LA! Morgan GeePosition: Health Fair Co-Director Year & Major: 4th Year Biochemistry Major About me: Having heard wonderful stories about APHC from my high school friend (now alumni director), I decided to join APHC my freshman year. While Zoom University™ was rough, members and directors alike made the environment incredibly welcoming throughout my first year of college. Ultimately, I grew to fall in love with the organization, the various programs and opportunities, and, of course, the people in it. After graduation, I plan on pursuing a PhD in biochemistry and working a corporate job in the pharmaceutical industry. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, going out with friends, concerts/raves, trying to gym, and watching Netflix. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about research, industry, health fair, or anything else! Grace GePosition: Research & Evaluations Director Year & Major: 4th Year Physiological Science Major Gerontology Minor About me: I fell in LOVE with APHC during my first year at UCLA which was online. Jumping from one Zoom meeting to another was definitely an intimidating experience, but APHC made it all different. All directors and members were incredibly welcoming, making me feel like I was at home away from home. For the past three years at APHC, I not only gained life-long friendships but also reconnected to my roots and the community. Outside of APHC, you can find me trying out new restaurants and coffee shops, going to the gym here and there, finding a new trail to hike, and watching good shows or movies. Feel free to say hi and reach out, down for anything! Xuan LaiPosition: Public Affairs Director Year & Major: 3rd Year Physiological Science Major About me: During my first year, I acquired an outrageous amount of flyers from organizations that promised health-related volunteering opportunities and a tight-knit community, thus it was impossible for me to decide which one was best. After hearing about APHC in the passing, flipping some coins, and filling out the application at the last minute, I found myself in an extremely supportive community that was passionate about making a difference in the API community. Outside of APHC you might catch me at the gym, touching grass, taking extended naps, crocheting, obsessing over extremely random, niche media, listening to music, or attempting to extend my 700+ day streak on Duolingo! Feel free to say hi if you see me around or send me a message anytime! |
Michael WongPosition: Programs Co-Director Year & Major: 4th Year MIMG Major, Global Health Minor About me: With my first year at UCLA online, I remember anxiously jumping from Zoom to Zoom trying to see what clubs clicked with me. After stumbling upon APHC, I knew it was the right place as soon as I attended orientation, amazed by how many opportunities there were for students to take direct action and have that much-needed guidance and community navigating UCLA. Outside of APHC, you can catch me playing Spikeball, surfing/bodyboarding, playing League, exploring mountains, or shooting photos! I am always down to do anything anywhere so feel free to reach out! Richard LuPosition: External Director Year & Major: 4th Year Biology Major About me: During my Zoomer freshman year, meeting people and meaningfully spending my time seemed virtually impossible (see what I did there?). After nearly missing the application deadline, I joined APHC and the rest is a story worthy of a multi-season Netflix original. Over the past three years, I’ve had the chance to explore nearly every facet of APHC, and to say that it’s provided me with invaluable opportunities to grow and allowed me to meet the most amazing people in my life is a criminal understatement (our service and impact in the API community is also a killer W!). Outside of APHC, you can find me catching up on sleep—but when I’m awake, I’m being the world’s biggest Formula 1 nut, hanging out with friends, watching YouTube, and trying new things! I love to talk to people, so feel free to reach out or say hi! Angelina YuanPosition: Health Fair Co-Director Year & Major: 3rd Year Physiological Science Major About me: I was drawn to APHC in Freshman year because of its close work with nearby communities. Throughout the years I have made so many precious friendships and I'm super thankful I found a club that was passionate about its mission and meaningful in its relationships. Outside of APHC you can find me thrifting, doing art, Polynesian dance, curating unnecessary Spotify playlists and making fancy shmancy meals with my apartmentmates! I'm always open to new activities/people so definitely don't feel afraid to say hey! Kishi Sugahara StrahlPosition: Finance Director Year & Major: 2nd Year Environmental Science Major Conservation Biology and Japanese Language and Culture Minor About me: I entered my first year at UCLA an excited pre med looking for an org that would support my career and cultural needs. Now an even more excited not pre med, I’m still feeling just as supported in every way. APHC has created a community that I’m more than happy to be a part of, a second family that makes school feel more like home. APHC continues to exist as a source of memories, growth, and friendship that I hope we can continue bringing to even more people. Other than filling out funding aps and hanging around APHC events I can frequently be fount at concerts, over-caffeinating, snooping around local gardens, obsessing over my Spotify feed, and eating copious amounts of yummy food (feast or famine rah!). Definitely say hi and message me if you ever have any questions or just want to chat! ^-^ Olivia SongPosition: Student Affairs Director Year & Major: 2nd Year Physiological Science Major About me: At EAF last year, I remember being overwhelmed by the mountains of clubs. Initially, APHC had stood out due to the focus on API health which I have been wanting to dive further into in college, so I attended the orientation! There, I was greeted with a welcoming, supportive community with so many opportunities I could take part in, and I knew I had to become a part of this community. Through the year, I made many memories, lifelong friends, and gained incomparable experience! Outside of APHC, you can find me going around LA for food, on the slopes snowboarding, drawing, painting, or laying in bed on reels for too long. Feel free to reach out and say hi! |
